"Energy for local sustainability: supports and challenges for 2014-2020 period"


The event "Energy for local sustainability: supports and challenges 2014-2020" took place on 28th and 29th of November in Palmela and was organized by the RENAE - Association of Energy and Environment Agencies (National Network) in partnership with ENA – Energy and Environment Agency of Arrábida and supported by ManagEnergy European Commission's and Europe Direct – Setúbal Peninsula.

The workshop “Covenant of Mayors, Challenges and Opportunities” took place on 28th day which addressed and discussed strategies for the developing of energy and environmental sustainability plans in the Municipal and Regional context looking for innovative ways of financing to its implementation. The seminar “Strategies for local environmental and energy sustainability of the territories” took place on the 29th day.

The participating interest was reflected in the more than two hundred participants representing a diverse range of entities such as municipalities, energy companies, energy agencies, among others.


With the presence of Mr. Secretary of Environment State and Regional Planning and Energy and a vast number of speakers of the various sustainable development and energy intervention areas the event demonstrated the importance that the new support framework for the period 2014-2020 will have in the strategic development for the regions put them back on the path of prosperity.

Sustainable development and energy seem like sure bets by dynamics which generate in society but also by the financial support given to them within the Community framework.

In parallel to the seminar held the exhibition “Bridges dialogue” whose aim was to promote dialogue between entities that allow access to National/European funds and the participants in the seminar.
